Raising Kids Off the Grid: An Interview with Tiny Shiny Home

In this episode, I'm chatting with some old friends - a family of 6 we met back in 2015 when we were both brand new to full-time travel and raising our kids on the road - the talented couple behind Tiny Shiny Home on YouTube and all over the web.

You'll notice as you listen that I recorded this interview with them back at the beginning of this summer right after we had seen each other in Ajo, Arizona last winter and were making all kinds of fun plans for the upcoming months.

I wasn't sure why I waited so long to share this with you all, but as I edited it this week, I knew - Standing on the brink of a new adventure myself with my family at this very moment (we just left our Airstream and moved onto a catamaran and are about to set sail), I have lots of nerves, lots of "Will this actually work?" and "What in the world are we doing?" moments, and this episode reminded me that I felt exactly the same way when we started full-time RVing in 2013. It might be how you're feeling too if you're planning a big, new, scary adventure with your family.

So, I hope you love it as much as I have!

We're chatting about why we love boondocking (living off-grid), raising kids we love to be around, meeting up with other traveling families, and all things family adventure related.

“The more amazing something is, the less comfortable it is to get there.” – Jonathan quoting someone else (perhaps Roy T. Bennett’s “Great things don’t come from comfort zones.”)

“Everything is a learning experience.” - Ashley
